Yes. We ship compounded prescriptions statewide, anywhere in Florida, in compliance with state pharmacy regulations. Temperature-sensitive preparations go out with cold-chain packaging so they arrive intact, which matters in a Florida summer. Shipping cost depends on the destination and on the packaging your medication needs, and we tell you the cost before we ship.

Compounding basics

Compounding pharmacy is the art and science of creating personalized medications tailored to individual patient needs. Our pharmacists combine, mix, or alter ingredients to create custom medications in specific dosages, forms, and flavors that are not commercially available. This is done based on a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.

It means a pharmacist prepares the medication individually for one patient, from ingredients, rather than dispensing it from a manufacturer's stock bottle. Compounding is what makes it possible to change a strength, change the dosage form, leave out an ingredient you react to, or add a flavor. Every compounded medication is prepared against a prescription written for you by name.

Most retail pharmacies dispense manufactured products and are not equipped to compound. Compounding needs dedicated equipment, ingredients purchased as ingredients rather than as finished drugs, and pharmacists trained to prepare medications to USP standards. That is what we do at Pharmique, which is why prescribers send compounded prescriptions to us rather than to a chain counter.

We specialize in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), weight management compounding, dermatology formulations, pediatric and geriatric compounding, veterinary compounding, pain management, and functional medicine. We work with healthcare providers across multiple specialties to create custom pharmaceutical solutions.

No. A generic is a manufactured product FDA has approved as equivalent to a brand-name drug and produced in batches at fixed strengths. A compounded medication is prepared by a pharmacy for one patient against a prescription, is not FDA-approved, and has not undergone FDA review for safety, effectiveness, or quality. They are different categories, not competing brands.

Safety, regulation and quality

Yes. Pharmacy compounding is lawful and long established, and it is recognized in federal law under section 503A of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Compounding pharmacies are licensed by their state board of pharmacy and must compound against a valid prescription for an individual patient. It is regulated practice, not a loophole.

Two regulators, at two levels. The Florida Board of Pharmacy, within the Department of Health, licenses and inspects pharmacies operating in the state. FDA regulates compounding federally under sections 503A and 503B of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, including which bulk substances may be compounded from. Both apply to Pharmique.

A 503A pharmacy compounds against a prescription for a named individual patient. A 503B outsourcing facility registers with FDA and may compound in batches without patient-specific prescriptions, generally so clinics and hospitals can hold stock. Pharmique is a 503A pharmacy, which is why we need a prescription with your name on it before we can prepare anything.

Non-sterile compounding covers preparations that do not have to be free of microorganisms: capsules, creams, oral liquids, troches, suppositories. Sterile compounding covers preparations that must be, principally injectables and eye preparations, and it requires a controlled environment and the USP standards that govern it. We provide both sterile and non-sterile preparations on prescription.

An expiration date comes from a manufacturer's stability testing on a sealed commercial product. A beyond-use date is the date a compounded preparation should be used by, assigned by the pharmacy under USP rules for that formulation and container. It is usually shorter, because a preparation made for you last week has no multi-year stability study behind it. Use your medication within the date on the label.

From FDA-registered suppliers only. Every lot arrives with a certificate of analysis, which we review and file before the ingredient is used, and we compound to USP standards. If you want to know the supplier and the lot behind your own prescription, ask us and we will tell you.

Yes. Pharmique Pharmacy holds a current Florida pharmacy permit and our pharmacists are licensed in Florida. Pharmacy and pharmacist licenses in this state are public record and can be checked through the Florida Department of Health's online license lookup. Ask us at (407) 610-9090 and we will give you what you need to look us up.

Check that it holds a current license with the state board of pharmacy. Florida's register is public and searchable. A legitimate compounding pharmacy requires a prescription in your name, will tell you where its ingredients come from, and will put a pharmacist on the phone. Any website that sells prescription medication without a prescriber involved is not a pharmacy.

Getting a prescription filled

Most compounded prescriptions are ready within 24-48 hours. Complex formulations may take 3-5 business days. We always provide an estimated completion time when you place your order and will contact you when your medication is ready for pickup or shipment.

Transferring your prescription is easy. Simply call us at (407) 610-9090 with your current pharmacy information and prescription details. You can also have your healthcare provider send prescriptions directly to us via fax, e-prescription, or phone. We handle all the transfer logistics for you.

Yes. We accept e-prescriptions, fax, and phone orders from any licensed prescriber, and paper prescriptions in person. If your prescriber's system does not list us, ask them to search for Pharmique Pharmacy in Lake Mary, or have them call (407) 610-9090 and we will give them what their software needs.

Usually, yes. It is the ordinary reason patients are sent to us. If your prescriber has written for a strength, a combination, or a dosage form that no manufacturer makes, we can often prepare it. Send us the prescription, or call (407) 610-9090 and describe it, and we will tell you before you commit to anything.

Often, yes. Bring the label or the paperwork from the other pharmacy. We need the active ingredients, the strengths, the base or vehicle, and the dosage form. With those and a valid prescription we can usually reproduce it. If anything is missing we contact your prescriber rather than guess at it.

Often, yes, and it is one of the most common reasons prescribers call us. If the active ingredient is one we may compound from and your prescriber writes for it, we can frequently prepare a comparable formulation. Availability depends on the specific ingredient and on federal rules, so call (407) 610-9090 with the medication name before assuming either way.

In many cases, yes, with a prescription from your provider. A flavored oral liquid is the usual answer for a child, an adult who struggles to swallow tablets, or a pet. Not every medication is stable or properly absorbed in liquid form, so ask us about the specific drug before your prescriber writes it that way.

Usually, yes. Tell us what has to be left out (dyes, gluten, lactose, soy, casein, preservatives, a particular filler) before we compound, and we will select ingredients accordingly. Put the request in when the prescription is sent rather than afterwards, so we do not have to remake the preparation.

Yes, routinely. If a strength, base, quantity, or set of directions is unclear or looks wrong, we contact the prescriber before we compound rather than after. Prescribers can also reach one of our pharmacists directly on (407) 610-9090 to talk a formulation through before they write it.

Yes, where your prescriber has authorized them, exactly as with any other prescription. How many refills you have and how long the prescription remains valid are set by your prescriber and by Florida pharmacy law, not by the pharmacy. Because each refill is compounded to order, request it about a week before you run out.

Yes. Your formulation, strength, dosage form, and any allergen restrictions stay on your patient record, so a repeat is prepared from the same specification rather than rebuilt from scratch. If anything about your prescription changes, your prescriber sends us a new one and we update the record before compounding.

Cost and payment

Yes, we accept most major insurance plans. However, many compounded medications may not be covered by insurance as they are custom-made. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to verify coverage. We also offer competitive cash pricing for compounded prescriptions.

Discount cards like GoodRx typically do not apply to compounded medications as they are custom-made and not listed in standard prescription databases. However, we offer competitive cash pricing and can work with you to find cost-effective solutions. Please call us to discuss pricing for your specific prescription.

We quote each prescription individually rather than publishing a price list, because cost depends on the ingredients, the strength, the dosage form, and the quantity your prescriber ordered. Call (407) 610-9090 with those details, or bring the prescription in, and we will give you the price before we compound anything.

Generally, yes. Prescription medications, including compounded prescriptions, are normally eligible HSA and FSA expenses and we accept those cards. Eligibility is ultimately set by your plan administrator, so keep the receipt. Ask us at the counter for an itemized one if you need it for your records.

Yes. Ask us and we will provide an itemized receipt showing the medication, the ingredients, the quantity, the date, and the prescriber, which is what most plans want for a compounded or out-of-network claim. We cannot promise your plan will reimburse it, but we can make sure the paperwork is not the reason it does not.

Our specialty services

Bioidentical hormone therapy uses hormones that are molecularly identical to those naturally produced by the human body. These hormones are custom-compounded based on individual patient prescriptions from licensed healthcare providers. BHRT is commonly used for menopause, andropause, thyroid disorders, and hormonal imbalances. It requires individualized assessment and ongoing monitoring by your healthcare provider.

Absolutely! We specialize in veterinary compounding for all animal species including cats, dogs, birds, and exotic pets. We can create medications in palatable flavors, alternative dosage forms (like transdermal gels or liquid suspensions), and specific strengths tailored to your pet's needs based on your veterinarian's prescription.

Yes. Pediatric compounding is one of our core services: flavored oral liquids in place of tablets, dye-free and allergen-free preparations, sugar-free versions, and strengths small enough for an infant, all against your pediatrician's prescription. See our pediatric compounding page for detail, or call (407) 610-9090 to talk it through with a pharmacist.
