What We Can and Cannot Compound

A 503A pharmacy may compound from a bulk drug substance in three situations: the substance has an applicable United States Pharmacopeia or National Formulary monograph, it is a component of an FDA-approved drug, or it appears on FDA's list of bulk drug substances that may be used in compounding. Some peptides satisfy one of those tests. Others satisfy none of them, and some have been placed in FDA's category of substances that raise significant safety risks.

The practical consequence is simple. We cannot promise in advance to compound a peptide we have not seen a prescription for. Any pharmacy that promises otherwise is telling you what you want to hear.
